There are the blockbuster albums, sold-out tours, award-show performances and, with the exception of 2001's universally panned "Glitter," notable film roles as well.But did the songbird really let herself be hired out to perform for the family of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, the same leader who just launched a bloody crackdown on democracy protests in the North African nation?You might find it hard to believe, but the reports are true!And you can thank WikiLeaks for the revelation.According to secret diplomatic cables released by the website and unearthed by the New York Times, a son of Col. Gadhafi, Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, paid Carey a whopping $1 million to sing a mere four songs at a huge 2009 party on the Caribbean island of St. Barts (that's $250,000 a tune!).Seif subsequently denied the allegation in a Libyan newspaper he controls, putting the blame on another brother, Muatassim, who's the country's national security adviser.Whichever family member had the idea, it still doesn't change the fact that the "Emancipation of Mimi" singer didn't mind accepting an invite into the tyrant's tent.But Carey isn't the only one to cash in on such disreputable company, apparently.according to reports, Muatassim threw another St. Barts extravaganza the next year, tapping Beyonce and Usher to entertain the Ghadafi clan.Representatives for the three R&B stars could not be reached for comment.There you have it y'all,a shame,but the truth!
